The eighth Honors, aptly dubbed “All Hail the Queens,” set out to correct that oversight. “Women been hip-hop, women are hip-hop, and women will always be hip-hop,” Eve declared. “There’s no way that I can allow us to be erased from the history of hip-hop,” Queen Latifah added later. Even Michelle Obama added her voice to the mix: “I’m so proud of the two of you,” she said in a taped speech.
