A month shy of its series premiere, Queen Sugar already looks poised for a successful run on OWN. According to Deadline, the Ava DuVernay directed drama was renewed for a second season that will launch sometime in 2017.  The series, which is executive produced by media titan Oprah Winfrey and Melissa Carter, will commence with a 13-episode first season slated to air on September 6.
